Myllykoski releases its new Sustainability Report
PRESS RELEASE May 18, 2009
Myllykoski’s new Sustainability Report 2008 surveys Myllykoski’s business operations from the perspective of corporate responsibility, covering economic, environmental and social performance.
In 2008, environmental work at Myllykoski concentrated on issues related to combating climate change through energy efficiency and conservation, the reduction of waste water emissions and water consumption, and the responsible sourcing of wood raw material. The report contains information on several energy investments aiming at higher efficiency and lower emissions.
Myllykoski’s commitment to responsible fibre sourcing was further strengthened, and all nine paper mills in Germany, Finland, Switzerland and the United States are now certified according to the PEFC and/or FSC Chain of Custody standards.
Also in 2008, Myllykoski joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative. “Signing on to the Global Compact demonstrates our commitment to ethical conduct and continuous performance improvement,” says Erkki Peltonen, Director, Sustainability.
Myllykoski has published joint Sustainability Reports since 2002. The report for 2008, published in English and German and printed on Myllykoski’s new paper grade MY VOLUME, is also available at www.myllykoski.com.
